Steve Siesser has been a tax practitioner, consultant and financial planning expert for over thirty years including ten years spent with the national CPA firms of Fox & Company and Grant Thornton International.  At both firms, Steve rose to the position of leading the firm’s national financial planning practice where he advised individuals on tax, estate planning, employee benefits, retirement plans, investment and insurance matters.

Mr. Siesser’s tax practice focuses on individuals, trusts and estates and small businesses, providing advice, research and planning strategies as well as tax compliance and representation before the IRS and state taxing authorities.

He joined the Council on Foundations in December 2008 as vice president, Finance and Administration where he was responsible for the organization’s finances, facilities, technology services and human capital assets. He left in February, 2011 to devote all his time to his growing tax practice.  Prior to joining the Council, he was vice president, Finance & Human Resources for the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) for 12 years. Prior to joining NAIFA, Steve spent seven years with Visual Systems Co., a regional chain of retail art supply stores, in the capacity of chief financial officer, in-house legal counsel, and human resources director. He also served three years on the AICPA’s national steering committee for personal financial planning, writing extensively on tax issues for various national and regional publications.

Steve received his law degree from St. John’s University after graduating with honors in political science from New York University. He is admitted to the NY and DC bars. He currently serves on the Finance Council for the National Institute for Government Procurement and has served on the board of the Finance and Administration Roundtable.  He has also been a member of the American Society of Association Executives and the Society for Human Resource Management.  Prior to the merger with ASAE, Steve was a member of the Greater Washington Society of Association Executives, participating in the Finance and Admin specialty interest group (SIG) and serving on the Salary Survey Council for three years, culminating as chairperson of the 1999 survey.
